Home Inspection vs Code Inspection

What is the difference between a home inspection and a code inspection? The municipality did a code inspection when the house was built. Do I need both?

A home inspection and code inspection are two different types of inspections. Code inspections are typically done when a house is being built or when major renovations are being performed. The code inspection ensures that the house meets the governing body's minimal construction standards.

A home inspection is totally different. Many people use home inspectors to find issues not covered under a code inspection. For instance, a code inspector is concerned with proper sized wiring while a home inspector may not can see the wiring behind the wall but they are concerned with the electrical outlets functioning. A code inspector may not be concerned about such an instance.
